NEWS: Webcentral Email Down again

Webcentral , Australia’s largest Web hosting company, have been having email outtages and delays to most customers for the last 3 days, according to their support line.

This is the longest sustained email outage I have experienced since 1999.

In Whirlpool, the broadband users forum, there were calls for compensation and/or a class action. (link below)

Personally, we have not been able to receive emails consistently for 3 days, consistently. It is driving us nuts, and worse as it doesn’t effect all accounts or all domains at the same time. I cannot tell whether our clients have emailled us or not. And I have no way of knowing when it will be working and no confidence that confidential emails weren’t lost.

Webcentral’s Priority line is permanently engaged and all the heat on Whirlpool suggest they are not answering phones, which is typical ISP/hosting behaviour.
H0w it started: I was told on Monday that one of our webcentral email servers was down, after I called them, and they were fixing the problem.

Now it’s Wednesday and ALL the email servers for our domains keep dropping in and out. Great. I have no idea what is causing it, as they tell you nothing. Well I guess they can’t send you an email…

At least they SHOULD post something on the FRONT PAGE of the website.
OR issue a media-release. it is all too common for ISP/webhosts not to update their clients until after it is all resolved.

There is potentially a serious case to answer here. This situation needs remedying.

Obviously, if you have sent me a message on one of my email addresses this week and I haven’t responded, then this is why.If you had a problem feel free to post a comment here or post a comment in the broadband forum at Whirlpool.

This is the biggest web-host in Australia, they have better customer service than most other hosts, but you pay a premium. Not good enough.
