ANALYSIS, Turkey — The fundamentals of environmental laws developed for environmental protection are primarily based on these three main principles.

1. Sustainability.

Places limits on growth.

The development of ecological footprints in calculating environmental carrying capacities.

Protection of Biological Diversity is a part of the Sustainable Development Principles.

2. Polluter Pays.

Manufacturers and importers of products are responsibile for the environmental impacts of their products.

Producers accept their responsibility when designing their products to minimise life-cycle environmental impacts.

3. Precautionary.

Acting to avoid serious or irreversible potential harm, despite lack of scientific certainty as to the likelihood, magnitude, or causation of that harm.

Your thoughts?

I would be interested in hearing others thoughts on these principles in reference to our environment today.

Hopefully, we can get some debates fired up. Your thoughts?
